How we put this together: We read Writesonic's and each alternative's official pricing and product pages on 8 October 2026 and compared price, seats, brand voices and writing allowances. We haven't run paid subscriptions of these tools for this article. Prices are in USD as shown on that date; where a vendor doesn't publish a price, we say so.

Writesonic is known as an AI writer, but its pricing page now reads differently. It’s titled as an AI search visibility platform, and the homepage pitches winning customers from AI search. The cheapest plan, Starter, is $99/month ($79 billed annually). It tracks 50 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and the writing comes as 15 AI articles a month plus 10 site audits.

If you wanted a writer, the structural reasons people look elsewhere are:

  • No writing-only plan. Every paid plan on the pricing page is built around visibility tracking. You pay for it whether or not you use it.
  • Writing is counted in articles. Starter includes 15 a month, Basic 25, Growth 50. Writesonic’s product pages still describe a Content Agent for LinkedIn posts, sales emails and ads, but the pricing page doesn’t list separate allowances for those.
  • Seats and voices are tight. Starter is one user and one brand voice. Extra users are $50 a month each on Starter and Basic, and five voices means Basic at $249/month ($199 annual).

Here’s what fits better if the job is writing.

The alternatives

1. Parlance: when the writing is high-stakes

Parlance is built for CEOs and the investor relations and communications teams around them. It trains on your previous writing, strategy documents and published content, and starts from a guided conversation about the reasoning behind your decisions. One brief becomes a blog post, an X thread, a LinkedIn post, an email and a press release.

Its house rules are Reg FD-aware and built to avoid stock-promotion phrasing and in-progress deal details. It also remembers what you’ve rejected and what has performed.

Self-service is $499/month (one voice, one seat), and the managed service starts at $1,999/month with a dedicated content lead. Billing is monthly. It’s invite-only, and it isn’t the tool for cheap volume content.

Disclaimer: we own Parlance (which is how we know it’s good).

2. Jasper: the closest full writing platform

Jasper Pro is $69/month per seat, or $59/month billed annually, with one seat and two brand voices. It adds a Canvas workspace, agents for core marketing workflows, 30+ languages and image generation, and there’s a 7-day trial. Business is custom-priced with a 12-month minimum and adds unlimited voices, a Style Guide and API access. Pro is a single seat, so teams get pushed to Business. See our Jasper alternatives for that side of it.

3. Semrush Content Toolkit: blog drafts built on keyword data

The Base plan is $60/month and pairs AI drafting with Semrush’s topic and keyword data, plus a brief generator and SEO content optimization. It writes in a saved brand voice (the page doesn’t state a voice limit). Extra users are $20/month, and there’s a 7-day trial. It’s built for search-led articles. Don’t expect it to write ad copy or press releases.

4. Copy.ai (Fullcast): five seats for $29

The Chat plan is $29/month, or $24/month billed annually, and covers five seats with unlimited words in chat. Copy.ai was acquired by Fullcast and now presents itself as a go-to-market AI platform, with its workflow plans starting at $1,000/month (billed $12,000 a year). Chat is the part to look at if you want cheap shared drafting. See Copy.ai alternatives for the full picture.

5. Anyword: marketing copy with performance scores

Starter is $49/month ($39 annual) with one seat, one brand voice, unlimited copy generation and 50 performance predictions a month. Data-Driven is $99 ($79 annual) with three seats and 100 predictions. Higher tiers train models on your past campaign data. It suits ads, email and landing pages more than long articles. The prediction counts are capped per month.

6. Rytr: the cheapest paid writer

Rytr has a free plan with 10,000 characters a month. Unlimited is $9/month ($7.50 on yearly billing) with unlimited generation and one Tone Match voice. Premium is $29 ($24.16 yearly) and adds multiple voices and 35+ languages. It’s basic, with no team features, but it covers short-form copy for little money. Copysmith’s site now lists Rytr as one of its three platforms.

7. WRITER: governed voice for larger teams

WRITER’s Starter plan covers up to five users, one team voice profile and up to five Playbooks, with a 14-day trial and no card required. It doesn’t publish the Starter price. Enterprise adds departmental voice profiles, SSO and audit logs. It’s an enterprise workflow platform, so it’s more than most individual writers need.

Surfer scores and optimizes drafts against what ranks, with an AI writing assistant called Surfy. Discovery is $49/month (billed yearly) for 120 documents and one seat. Standard is $99/month for 360 documents and three seats. The pricing page shows yearly billing only. It’s an SEO optimizer first, and it now tracks AI visibility too, so it overlaps with Writesonic more than the rest of this list.

9. Claude or ChatGPT: do it yourself

Claude Pro is $17/month with an annual subscription ($200 billed up front), or $20 billed monthly. Claude’s free plan includes up to five projects. ChatGPT’s paid plans list projects and custom GPTs, but its pricing page showed no prices when we read it, so check it directly. A project loaded with your style guide and past writing gets you most of the way for one person. You give up shared rules, approvals and per-channel voices unless you build them.

Hypotenuse AI is not on this list. It now sells two e-commerce plans with custom pricing, aimed at product content (see best AI copywriting tools).

How to choose

  1. Decide whether you want visibility tracking at all. If you do, Writesonic’s pricing makes sense. If you don’t, you’re paying for the product’s main feature.
  2. Match the tool to the copy. Articles for search point to Semrush or Surfer. Ads and email point to Anyword or Jasper. Executive and investor communication points to Parlance. Short, cheap copy points to Rytr.
  3. Count your seats. Jasper Pro, Anyword Starter and Rytr are one seat. Copy.ai Chat includes five.
  4. Check where voice lives. If consistency across a team matters, compare Jasper Business, WRITER and Parlance. Our guide to AI writing tools that learn your brand voice goes deeper.
  5. Keep a human in the loop. None of these tools guarantees accuracy. For regulated or public-facing copy, keep an editor and, where relevant, counsel in the approval path.
