How we put this together: We read Profound's official pricing page and each alternative's official pricing and feature pages on 8 October 2026, using a full browser where prices only load with scripts, and compared entry price, prompt limits, AI engines at entry, plan gating and trials. We haven't run paid subscriptions of these tools for this article. Prices are in USD as shown on that date.

Profound is one of the most data-rich AI visibility platforms, but it’s built around a sales conversation. On 8 October 2026, its pricing page gave brands two options: a free 7-day trial or a custom Enterprise package booked through a demo. These are the structural reasons people start looking elsewhere, all from Profound’s own page:

  • No published brand price. There’s no self-serve paid plan between the trial and Enterprise.
  • A narrow trial. It runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, in one region and one language. Profound picks the prompts and you can’t edit them. There’s no history, export or API.
  • Plan gating. Projects, ChatGPT Shopping, all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, API access, SSO and the full set of up to nine engines are Enterprise features.
  • Limits handled by sales. If you near your prompt limit, Profound says it will help you explore expansion options. Agent usage runs on credits, and extra credits need an Enterprise package.
  • Agency math. Agency Growth is $99/month plus add-ons. Each client workspace is another $399/month and covers 100 prompts on three engines. Three clients comes to $1,296/month before any other add-on.

The full plan breakdown is in Profound Pricing in 2026. For a wider list that isn’t Profound-specific, see Best AI Visibility Tools in 2026.

The alternatives

1. SEOButler AI Visibility Check: a free look before any demo

SEOButler’s free check asks for a brand name, a website and, optionally, a topic your customers search for. It searches a large index of recorded ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews answers (US, English) and shows where your brand is named, which answers cite your website, and which other brands and sources appear for the topic. You can open the answers behind each number.

Unlike Profound’s trial, you choose the brand and topic. No email is needed. Verifying an email gives a shareable, unbranded report and 3 brand checks a month.

What it isn’t: a live tracker. It searches previously recorded answers, so a zero means no matching records, not that AI never mentions you. Use it to decide whether you need paid tracking at all.

2. Pace Generative: the monitoring and the work, done for you

Pace Generative is a done-for-you generative engine optimization (GEO) service, not a self-serve tool. It tracks visibility across the major AI engines, then does the work meant to change it: content written to be cited in AI answers, plus schema markup. Reporting covers citations, share of voice and competitor comparisons.

Profound is a platform your team operates. With Pace, its team does the operating. It’s sold as monthly packages, with pricing on request.

Who it isn’t for: teams that want their own dashboards, exports and API access to run tracking in-house, or anyone who needs a published price first.

3. Peec AI: the closest self-serve swap

Peec publishes every self-serve price. Starter is $95/month ($80 billed annually) for 50 prompts tracked daily on three models you choose from six (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Naver AI), with one project and unlimited users. Pro is $245/month ($205 annual) for 150 prompts. Advanced is $495/month ($420 annual) for 350 prompts. Peec also classifies the sources AI cites, such as competitor, editorial and user-generated content.

Limitation: engines beyond your three cost extra, and API-based models such as Claude and Grok are Enterprise-only. Full details are in Peec AI Pricing in 2026.

4. Otterly.AI: the lowest published entry price

Lite is $29/month ($25 billed annually) for 15 prompts tracked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with unlimited team members. Standard is $189/month ($160 annual) for 100 prompts and adds API and MCP access, a Looker Studio connector and Agent Analytics.

Limitation: 15 prompts is a small set, and Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons on every plan (on Lite, $29, $9 and $9 a month).

5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: for teams already in Semrush

The toolkit is $99/month per domain for 25 custom prompts tracked daily. It reports mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, with competitor analysis, prompt research and an AI-readiness site audit. Extra users start at $45/month.

Limitation: the price is per domain and covers only 25 prompts, so costs climb quickly across several brands. Multi-brand tracking is a custom Enterprise quote.

6. Ahrefs Brand Radar: market-wide benchmarking

Ahrefs offers two routes. Custom prompts start at $50/month. The AI Visibility Index, built from 462 million prompts drawn from Ahrefs’ keyword data, starts at $199/month per platform, or $699/month for all of them. Paid Ahrefs plans also include a few daily prompts (5 on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced).

Limitation: Ahrefs says the index works best once your brand already appears in AI search, and per-platform pricing adds up.

7. SE Visible (SE Ranking): 200 prompts across five engines

Basic is $99/month ($79 billed annually) for 200 prompts, about 30,000 AI answers a month and three projects, across ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, Perplexity and AI Overviews. SE Visible says it collects answers through a real browser interface rather than an API. It offers a 10-day free trial.

Limitation: there’s no Copilot, and Claude is listed as coming soon. SE Visible’s FAQ says white labeling isn’t supported yet.

8. Rankscale: wide coverage on a credit model

Pro is $99/month ($84 yearly) for 1,200 credits, up to 4,800 answers a month, 10 brand dashboards and a Looker Studio connector, with a 7-day free trial. Rankscale lists 17+ engines, hourly-to-monthly schedules and unlimited seats. Essentials is $17/month, yearly only, for 120 credits.

Limitation: credits need budgeting. ChatGPT, AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini cost about 0.25 credits per prompt, while Claude costs 2. REST API access starts at Pro+ ($229/month).

9. Scrunch: for how AI agents read your site

Core is $250/month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses a month and five user licenses on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with a 7-day free trial. Scrunch’s Enterprise tier adds its Agent Experience Platform, which serves AI agents an optimized version of your pages.

Limitation: Core covers one brand workspace and one country. Claude, Gemini, AI Mode, Meta AI, Grok, API access and Looker Studio all need a custom Enterprise plan.

10. AthenaHQ: 11 models, with a free tier

The free Essential tier includes $25 of credit across five engines. Starter is $295/month ($245 billed annually) for 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI response. It covers 11 models, including Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, with unlimited seats and Search Console, GA4, Shopify and Webflow integrations.

Limitation: credits go fast. Tracking 30 prompts daily on four engines uses all 3,600 in a month. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons without a published price.

11. Evertune: demo-led, like Profound

Evertune’s pricing page shows Pro at $800/month with a “Request a demo” button. It lists 100,000 prompts tracked across 11 AI models, daily, weekly or monthly tracking, 25 AI-optimized articles a month and advertising tools, including affiliate partnerships and AI retargeting. Evertune says it samples each prompt 100 times per model.

Limitation: it’s a sales-led purchase that bundles content and ad tools you may not need. Enterprise is custom.

Also checked on 8 October: Writesonic’s Starter plan is $79/month billed annually and tracks only ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on self-serve plans. Gauge’s Growth plan is $599/month for 600 daily prompts across six platforms and 18 articles a month, with a one-week free trial.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether you need Profound’s depth. Prompt volume data, ChatGPT Shopping, SOC 2 and SSO, and up to nine engines are what Profound lists for Enterprise. If you need those, ask Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Evertune for comparable quotes. If you mainly need tracking and citation data, self-serve tools cost far less.
  2. Size your prompt list first. Entry plans range from 15 prompts (Otterly Lite) to 200 (SE Visible Basic). Write down the questions your buyers actually ask, then compare plans on that number.
  3. Check what’s gated. API access, Looker Studio, extra engines and white label sit on higher tiers or add-ons at most vendors. Otterly’s add-on engines and Scrunch’s Enterprise-only models are two examples.
  4. Agencies: price a client, not a plan. Profound charges $399/month per client workspace. Compare Peec’s agency plans (from $245/month, with a shared credit pool) and Rankscale’s Growth plan ($385/month, with white-label options).
  5. Check before you track. Run a free check first, then decide whether you need a tracker or a team to act on the results.

How much does Profound cost?
On 8 October 2026, Profound's pricing page showed no price for brand plans. Brands could start a free trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days) or request a demo for a custom Enterprise package. The only listed price was for agencies: Agency Growth at $99/month plus add-ons, with each client workspace an extra $399/month.
What is the cheapest Profound alternative?
Otterly.AI's Lite plan was $29/month ($25 billed annually) for 15 daily prompts, and Rankscale's yearly-only Essentials plan started at $17/month. The SEOButler AI Visibility Check is free, but it searches recorded answers rather than tracking live.
Is there a free alternative to Profound?
Yes, with limits. The SEOButler check is free and needs no email. AthenaHQ has a free Essential tier with $25 of credit. Several paid trackers offer free trials, including Peec AI, Otterly, SE Visible (10 days), Scrunch (7 days) and Rankscale (7-day Pro trial).
Which alternative tracks the most AI engines?
On their pricing pages, Rankscale lists 17+ engines, AthenaHQ's Starter plan covers 11 models and Evertune says 11. Profound's Enterprise plan lists up to nine. Entry plans usually cover fewer: Peec AI's self-serve plans track three engines of your choice, and Scrunch's Core plan covers four.
